Megan Mullally Hosts The 25th Annual SAG Awards January 27, 2019

Award season is in high gear and now that we've celebrated the best in television and film with the Golden Globes and the Critics' Choice, next in line will be the 25th Annual Screen Actors' Guild Awards (SAG Awards) that will air on TBS and TNT on January 27, 2019. Megan Mullally will host and Alan Alda will receive the life achievement award.

This is the silver anniversary for the SAG Awards and there are several special events taking place. The SAG Awards Red Carpet premiere will live stream on affiliate outlets (including People) beginning at 2:30 p.m. PT. The actual SAG Awards show will air at 8 p.m. ET.

The SAG Awards will air on both TBN and TBS at the same time on television stations, mobile devices, and streaming products such as ROKU, Amazon Fire, and Apple TV. Members of the military forces can watch the awards on the American Forces Network.

The nominees for the best movie include A Star is Born, Black Panther, BlacKkKlansman, Bohemian Rhapsody, Crazy Rich Asian.

Best actress nominees include Glenn Close for The Wife , Emily Blunt for Mary Poppins Returns , Lady Gaga for  A Star is Born , Olivia Colman for The Favourite , and Melissa McCarthy for Can You Ever Forgive Me?

Best actor nominees include Rami Malek for Bohemian Rhapsody , Bradley Cooper for A Star is Born , Christian Bale for Vice,   John David Washington for BlacKkKlansman , and Viggo Mortensen for Green Book.

Many of the nominees are similar to those from the Golden Globes and Critics' Choice Awards. There are several notable differences; however.

Margot Robbie was nominated for best supporting actress for her role in Mary Quen of Scots. The Ozark received multiple nominations including Outstanding Performance by an Ensemble in a Drama Series, Laura Linney and Julia Garner were both nominated for best female actor. Jason Bateman scored a best male actor in a drama series for his role as Martin "Marty" Byrde.
