Married To Medicine Star And EP Mariah Huq Believes She Is Being Pushed Out — Plans To Sue Production Company Who Would Not Let Her Wear Hijab
Mariah Huq has been a staple to Married to Medicine since its first season. In fact, she is an executive producer of the show; however, she has yet to receive her letter to be asked back.
Not only is she an EP, but she’s also been in the middle of most the show’s epic moments. So why would the showrunners not want her back?
According to Huq, it may have been a plan carried out by Quad Webb who started a rumor that she was on drugs. Although she took a drug test to disprove the gossip, the damage was already done.
‘I thought that was horrible. And that’s one of my complaints about the network and I feel like the entire pretense of the show is to diminish me as an Executive Producer, to denounce me and make sure they don’t include me. I thought that the drug allegations were just a little too far. That’s when I knew that they were really trying to…not only were they trying to push me out. They were trying to tarnish my reputation and make sure I could not work in Hollywood,’ she said in an Instagram Live chat with the Jasmine Brand.

She pointed out that at first she didn’t understand why they would allow Quad to make those allegations with no proof and follow the story but it now makes sense because she has no contract. This may have been the plan all along.
She revealed that as a Black woman, she was treated horribly. Her religion was also muzzled because she wasn’t allowed to wear her hijab during confessionals or on trips.
She explains that Purveyors of Pop is specifically who produces M2M but Bravo should also step in especially at a time where they claim to be committed to diversity.
‘It’s not necessarily Bravo that I’m going against. It’s the production company. But it’s Bravo that has the control and the power to change things and have the obligation and responsibility to step in and say this is wrong and we will not be complicit in you discriminating against this young lady whether it’s because of her title, her gender, her religion, or whatever it is.’
There are rumors that Mariah has no say as an EP because she sold the show but she says that in her contract she’s supposed to have some sort of creative control.
Huq is seriously considering suing so this never happens again.
