Safaree Samuels took to social media to announce that his and Erica Mena’s baby is here and it’s a girl! The rapper shared the first ever pic featuring the bundle of joy and also gushed over being a proud ‘girl dad’ in addition to just being super excited about fatherhood in general.
The baby girl was welcomed on February 2 and in a post Safaree shared on his Instagram account, he gushed over the huge event in his life alongside a snap that showed his new daughter’s little hand holding onto his finger.
‘These past 24 hours have been an adventure to say the least!! I am a part of the #girldad club now 🙏🏾. Perfection is here ❤️,’ he wrote alongside the photo.
The whole #girldad thing is a new trend that has been spreading online ever since Kobe Bryant, who was a father of four daughters, passed away in a tragic helicopter accident.
In the aftermath of the tragedy, many fathers of girls went on to express the same pride the NBA legend used to.
As for the adventure he was talking about, Safaree was referencing the fact that he had to cancel a Rhode Island gig last minute upon finding out his daughter was about to be born.
‘Sorry to everyone who came out to see me in Rhode Island last night, as I was getting ready to leave my wife’s water broke,’ he shared on Instagram Stories not too long after actually announcing the infant had been born.
The two first announced they were pregnant on October 1 via a video during which the rapper said: ‘Wow, wow, it’s a big deal! Very big deal. I did not know I was capable of doing this. I’m excited! I’m nervous. I’m in shock. I’m in disbelief. It’s very surreal to me. I don’t know what to do but I know I’m going to be great at what I do, because I’m great at everything.’
