The beef between Nick Cannon and Eminem has been on people's radars for some time now, but it is also been surrounded by a lot of speculation.

It was not entirely clear what went down between the two that caused such a rift in the first place, and there has been a lot of silence from both sides for a while, leading many of their fans to speculate actively on social media.

Recently, Cannon wanted to share some insights into the whole situation and took the opportunity to explain his side of the story in a conversation with T.I. on his podcast ExpediTIously .

Apparently, the whole ordeal started when Eminem made some insulting remarks about Mariah Carey in one of his songs.

Cannon used to be married to Carey, which would immediately explain a large part of his stance on the situation.

The TV personality went on to explain that while he admitted he could never go up against Eminem on the microphone, he was still happy to challenge the rapper as a man to another man, and wanted to make that clear to the public.

The TV host said: "I think we were flying back on a jet from Africa or somewhere and this motherfucker drops a song, like, talking sh*t. Calling her [Mariah] all kinds of bitches and hoes. I'm like; this is my wife. This is my new wife. I wrote a letter; first, I don't even know if Twitter had come out yet. So, I wrote this long-a*s letter pretty much saying, look, I respect you as an artist. I'm actually a fan, and I think you're one of the best ever to do it. But from man to man, you are talking out of pocket to my wife. You gotta be held accountable for that, so I need to see you face-to-face."

And while Eminem has yet to respond to that comment, many of his fans have jumped to his defense, noting that this is just what the rapper does in general.

Meanwhile, Eminem seems to be dealing with some personal issues of his own, although the rapper has not shared any details on what is going on in his life. That has not stopped many of his supporters from speculating actively, however.

One person said: "He was gone headbutt nick in true white boy fashion 🤣🤣🤣🤣. And the white boy would have won!"

Another commenter revealed: "I’m putting my money on Em. 🤷🏽‍♂️ It’s sad that him and MC didn’t work out, but mad props for one of the most unproblematic divorces."

This social media user explained: "She didn’t need your help cause her comeback was flawless. The gag was Mariah diss him right back with Obsessed, Sooo no shade she didn’t need him to defend her 🤷🏾‍♂️."

Will Eminem respond to the drama?
