Dave Chappelle has made his way back into the entertainment industry in a big way over the last few years. Dave famously turned down hundreds of millions of dollars from Comedy Central to continue filming episodes of Chappelle’s Show, which has gone down in history as one of the greatest sketch comedies of all time.
Chappelle took a long break away from the entertainment industry but finally returned with a number of stand-up specials which were then released directly on Netflix.
During Dave’s hiatus, Joe Rogan quickly became the “gate-keeper” of comedy through his popular podcast, The Joe Rogan Experience, which he has used to boost the careers of many comedians in the industry.
Fans have been pleading with Joe Rogan now for years to get Dave Chappelle on the podcast and he finally did. Dave Chappelle appeared on the podcast alongside Donnell Rawlings, who has been on Joe’s show a number of times already.
According to Hot New Hip Hop, in December 2019, Rogan asked himself whether Dave Chappelle would even take the time to come on his show. Dave was on the show with Joe Rogan and Donnell, however, he didn’t appear on the program until about 2 hours into it.
Thus far, the reaction to the podcast has been fairly positive but with some criticism, with many fans criticizing the fact that Dave only bothered to show up until the last hour of the program. Moreover, other users complained about Donnell Rawlings who supposedly interrupted too much and at the worst times.
Either way, it’s been a great year for Joe Rogan’s podcast; he has had some of the biggest guests on in the last few months, including Kanye West, Alex Jones, Dave Chappelle, and more.
Dave, on the other hand, has been in the headlines for a number of reasons, including when it was revealed that his legendary sketch-comedy series would be making its way onto Netflix for the first time. Chappelle was also recently awarded with an Emmy Award, during which he stood up on stage and told his critics to “shut up forever.”
