According to a new report from The Hollywood Reporter, Chris Hemsworth, the star of the Thor and Avenger movies, will get to act as Hulk Hogan in a new biopic on the wrestler’s life, directed by Todd Phillips with the help of Scott Silver. Currently, details regarding the collaboration have been kept under wraps, but it’s clear that Netflix will distribute/produce the film.
Hulk Hogan is arguably the most famous wrestler of all time, becoming a massive TV sensation in the 1980s USA as a part of the WWF – the World Wrestling Federation. The wrestler went on to star in a series of television series, product endorsements, as well as video games.
Hogan first began his career in the 1970s in the Florida fighting circuit before going on to the WWF in which he frequently squared off against Andre the Giant as the bad guy.
When Vince McMahon took over the organization in the following years, Vince slowly built it up to a huge presence in American culture and Hulk Hogan was the face of it.

However, as the years went by, Hogan’s life continued to be marred by controversy, most notably within his personal life. He was embroiled in a sex tape scandal, for instance, with the wife of a friend of his who happened to be a radio personality.
Hulk Hogan then sued Gawker Magazine, a suit famously funded by the Paypal billionaire, Peter Thiel. According to a report, Hogan received millions of dollars in that settlement, but the cost of the court case was in the millions as well.
Putting Hogan’s past aside, the Hogan film announcement comes after the news of Todd Phillips movie starring Joaquin Phoenix, Joker. The movie is perhaps one of the most anticipated comic book films at the moment, as the iconic Joker character is portrayed by yet another legendary actor.
Chris Hemsworth seems like somewhat of a strange choice for the role as Hulk Hogan, but fans have been quite excited thus far with the news. Furthermore, Chris actually got married to Miley Cyrus, and he just got finished kicking off his first fitness app. The Hollywood star regularly posts his workouts on Twitter. There’s no question Liam has the fitness regiment to pull off Hogan.
