Shahs Of Sunset Star Mercedes 'MJ' Javid Went To The ICU Following Complications While Giving Birth
Shahs of Sunset star Mercedes "MJ" Javid is in ICU after giving birth to her son, Shams Francis Feight. David's husband, Tommy Feight, gave fans an update on Instagram this week about his wife's condition, confirming the sad news that she has yet to hold her baby in what was the "worst night" of his life.
"My wife had a ton of complications. She was in surgery for like five hours," he shared. "She's still in ICU. She still hasn't held her baby yet. That should probably happen later today though."
Fortunately, Shams was born a healthy baby and Feight confirmed that he could not be happier about being a father. According to Bravo TV , Javid was originally scheduled to have Shams around Mother's Day, but doctors were forced to perform a C-section this past week. Complications sent Javid to the ICU, though Feight sounds like he is optimistic that things will turn around.
Javid's pregnancy was just as difficult as the delivery. At one point, the reality star was placed on bedrest because doctors were worried about a possible miscarriage. A few weeks before the delivery, Javid shared her thoughts on her progress and admitted that she felt like she was in a good place.
The Shahs of Sunset star gave birth to Shams on Wednesday morning. The newborn weighed in at 6 lbs., 9 oz. The couple named their son Shams after Javid's father. The boy's middle name, Francis, is named after her mother.
It is unclear when Javid will be released from ICU, though reps of the family say that the reality star is feeling better. In fact, Feight shared a photo of Javid holding her baby on Thursday. Javid, who was shown sitting in a wheelchair, looked happy holding her son while Feight thanked all the doctors and nurses who kept her alive.
Mercedes “MJ” Javid and Feight tied the knot in the spring of 2018. Their wedding was featured on Season 7 of Shahs of Sunset . It isn't known how much of her pregnancy drama will make it to the show.
