Lizzo Tears Up During Video Discussion About 'Black Lives Matter' And More - Check Out Her Powerful And Touching Speech!
Lizzo got emotional while talking about the current Black Lives Matter protests sparked by the horrible killing of George Floyd. The 'Juice' singer took to IG Live to speak up on the huge injustices black people in America have been going through to the point that they fear for their lives.
She also took this opportunity to update her followers on the protests in Minneapolis since she had received a message on it from locals.
‘What they just told me is that at this point, the majority of the violence happening is coming from the KKK and also from the heavily militarized police. There are white supremacist groups coming from the south, patrolling the streets and shooting people. Follow people from Minneapolis ‘cause the real story is not being told fully,’ she told her fans during the live session.
She then started to tear up just thinking about the current situation, arguing that ‘It's never black people, it is always white people using the term 'race war.’ We don't want that s**t. We want what we have always wanted from the beginning of being in this f**king country, the same rights all these other people have. It's not this difficult. I have been trying to stay composed this entire time.’
After regaining her composure, the artist went on to stress that ‘black people are tired. We are so tired’ of always being exposed to danger from those meant to protect all American citizens, aka the police!
Another danger that she mentioned is, of course, the white supremacist groups who are simply shooting people and running them over with their cars.
Lizzo pointed out that while this is a politics-related problem so this might be where people get divided on the issues at hand, at the end of the day, it is much more than that!
‘It's in the veins of this country...there is racism running through its veins.’
Lizzo had a lot more to say during this live session so make sure to check it out!
