If everything goes well, fans may just get to see Harry Styles on the big screen, playing a prince! As you may know, reports have been saying the former One Direction member had been in talks to portray Prince Eric in the live-action adaptation of The Little Mermaid and now it sounds like he is one step closer to getting the role!
One source tells HollywoodLife that the singer already had a screen-test with Halle Bailey, who has been confirmed to play the titular character, and they ‘clicked’ instantly!
Furthermore, the insider claims Harry wants the role and the production feels he would be fit for it as well.
‘Harry’s very interested, it’s already got so much buzz and has such a great team behind it. He hasn’t signed anything yet, but he’s been told they really want him and he wants to do it. So as long as they can work out all the details, it’s a go,’ the source shared with the news outlet.
They went on to dish that ‘Harry loves the whole team that’s being assembled. He thinks Halle’s incredibly talented and thinks she’s a brilliant choice for Ariel. He screen tested with her and they clicked, he wouldn’t have got this far if they hadn’t.’
It makes sense they are getting along since they have similar experiences in the industry, both making a name for themselves in music before dipping their toes into film.
