Elisabeth Hasselbeck Addresses The Rosie O’Donnell Crush News, Calls It ‘Disturbing’
Elisabeth Hasselbeck addressed the news stories that Rosie O’Donnell had a crush on her during their time together on The View. Here’s what she had to say while appearing on Tuesday’s episode!
After taking a deep breath, the woman started: ‘This is how I believe this needs to be addressed—both truthfully and maybe where I would have addressed it with some grace in years past, and haven’t, I will now.’
As you may know, the crush news actually comes from the source since O’Donnell herself claims in a book titled Ladies Who Punch: The Explosive Inside Story of The View, that ‘there was a little bit of a crush.’
In a fragment published by Variety, O’Donnell goes on to explain: ‘But not that I wanted to kiss her. I wanted to support, raise, elevate her, like she was the freshman star shortstop and I was the captain of the team. I was going to Scottie Pippen her. If I was Jordan, I was going to give her and the ball and let her shoot. But it was in no way sexualized.’
However, as far as Hasselbeck is concerned, the reality was different!
She described her former co-star as ‘untrue’ and ‘reckless,’ going on to explain that it was pretty disturbing for her to feel that for someone at the workplace.
Hasselbeck explained that just because she is a woman that is not to say what ‘happened to’ her was not an ‘objectification of a woman in the workplace.’
‘And that’s disturbing because where we may be really against that when it comes from a man to a woman, you don’t get a pass because you’re a lesbian objectifying a woman in the workplace. You just don’t.’
As Joy Behar argued that she made no comments on her looks in her crush admittance, Hasselbeck read the statement differently – it was as if O’Donnell had admitted to intentionally trying to ‘groom’ her and if she was a man, people would not think it was Okay.
