Giles Terera is furious with a bar in London, England, claims a new report from The Hollywood Reporter. The actor accused the establishment of racial profiling, stating that the incident in question left him and the rest of his friends, “devastated, confused, and upset.”
The actor took to his social media on the 29th of November to state that a London bar refused him and the rest of his eight friends because they were black. The Hamilton performer claimed his peer group was denied entry at the Ain’t Nothing But Blues Bar in Central London.
However, he claims the establishment then let 10 white people in right after. You can check out the actor’s tweet below.
In response to his allegations, the bar came out in a Facebook post and said it was a “shame” people can put such accusations on the internet without having the “facts correct.” The post on Facebook added that the group of ten men wasn’t allowed in either.
1. I just took a group of 8 Black actors who i’m directing in a play about American blues musicians to Aint Nothin But The Blues bar in soho. We were racially profiled and refused entry as 10 white punters were allowed in past us unchecked. WTF @AintNothinBut1 @standardnews RT pic.twitter.com/Ll150lCMi0

The statement went on to accuse the actor of playing the “race card” to try and intimidate the people who worked there. Continuing in the same vein, the bar stated they didn’t care about anybody’s skin color and had many employees that were also black, and it was a challenge for them to fight back against the reputation that Terera had singlehandedly created.
Another actor, Nathalie Emmanuel, who started as Missandei in HBO’s series, Game Of Thrones, described the incident in question as “unacceptable” and “infuriating.” As most know, this wouldn’t be the first time that an actor complained of racial profiling.
In a report from last year from The Guardian, Pulp Fiction actor, Ving Rhames, stated he was once held at gunpoint for entering his own home after his neighbors had called the police on him. Ving explained the incident had happened earlier in 2018.
Rhames claims he had asked the police what would’ve happened if it was his son at the door and he was holding a TV remote or a video game controller.
