Selena Gomez got really emotional while talking about her brand new album titled Rare. Apparently, she found it a ’nightmare’ to record, which is also why it took her no less than two years to complete it!
As it turns out, the singer had to do a lot of healing to finally drop this new LP.
Just before it gets released tomorrow, Selena did a confessional clip for Spotify and there were tears!
The artist explained how this new album came together in the end, as well as why the title is important.
Furthermore, she admitted that behind the new songs, there is a lot of heartbreak, most of it coming from her failed relationship with Justin Bieber.
‘Honestly, this album was kind of a nightmare to deal with…but in the best way possible. Two years ago I thought that I was ready. I’d collected all these beautiful sessions and I do not even remember half of them because it just evolved each year. And then something would just happen and it’d be drastic so that it’d take me somewhere else. Then all of the sudden I found some healing and saw something bigger than what I thought I was, and I think it added the whole end of the album,’ Selena revealed in the clip.
She went on to explain her choice of naming the new LP ‘Rare!’
Here’s what she had to say about that: ‘So I heard ‘rare’ a few years back and just thought that was me. Obviously I have had a lot of self-esteem issues in the past. And still struggle with confidence…it is going to be something I will always be working on. And so ‘rare’ just made me feel incredible and I ended up cutting the record before all of the other stuff came together.’
Selena stressed that it was a really important word for her and that she was determined to title her album that the moment she heard it!
The singer also talked about her fans and that is when she broke down in tears while sharing how much love she has for them.
