Real Housewives of Orange County star Gina Kirschenheiter is still battling her estranged husband Matt in court over custody of their three children. But, her co-star Tamra Judge says that Kirschenheiter is dating again and has already found a good guy.
The CUT Fitness owner was in New York for Fashion Week, and at the OK! Magazine Party at PHD Terrace she revealed that Kirschenheiter is “in a really good place” after a rough summer that featured an alleged assault from Matt that led to a restraining order and nasty custody fight.
“Actually, Gina has met a guy. Gina is amazing, I love Gina and I’m really happy for her,” Judge told Us Weekly. “He’s a good guy, he’s got kids the same age as Gina and he was divorced so they have a lot in common.”
Gina filed for divorce from Matt in the spring of 2018, but they appeared to remain on good terms all throughout her first season of RHOC and she posted positive things about him on Instagram as late as June 2019.
But, things went very wrong in late June when Gina claims Matt broke into her home in the middle of the night and assaulted her while threatening to kill her. Gina immediately filed for a restraining order against Matt and their split went from amicable to nasty.
Prosecutors waited two months to formally charge Matt, but he maintains his innocence. His lawyer, Edward Welbourn, says that the divorced and alleged incident is “unfortunate,” and there are three children – Nicholas, 7, Sienna, 5, and Luca, 4 – who are going through this. He adds that in cases like this where there are no witnesses, it comes down to the credibility of the people involved.
Gina claims that the June incident was just the latest violent turn for Matt, and he has a history of violence towards her. The court did grant her a restraining order until January 2020 when their divorce should be final.
The judge has agreed to the “dissolution,” but they are still legally married until December 31st, and they are still fighting over custody and child support. Matt lost his job as a financial account manager because of his arrest, and he no longer has an income. Meanwhile, Gina Kirschenheiter’s income has significantly increased now that she is in her second season of RHOC.
New episodes of the Real Housewives of Orange County air Tuesday nights on Bravo.
