After Losing 7 Family Members To COVID -- Karl Anthony Towns Reveals He Has The Virus
Karl Anthony Towns has had the worst year of his life. After losing 7 family members to COVID, the basketball player reveals that he has tested positive for the virus.
He shared a heartbreaking message via social media.
'Prior to tonight's game, I received yet another awful call that I tested positive for COVID. I will immediately isolate and follow every protocol. I pray every day that this nightmare of a virus will subside and I beg everyone to continue to take it seriously by taking all the necessary precautions. "It breaks my heart that my family, and particularly my father and sister continue to suffer from the anxiety that comes along with this diagnosis as we know all too well what the end result could be. To my niece and nephew ... I promise you I will not end up in a box next to grandma and I will beat this.'
Last year, both of his parents contracted the contagious virus but his mother unfortunately passed away. Later, he revealed that six other family members also passed away from the illness.
The player received nothing but uplifting messages from those on the Shade Room who know his story.
'“A box next to grandma” 😭 this man is showing us how to be SELFLESS! A few of you could stand to be more like him ,' one said.
Another commented: 'That’s gotta be tough physically and mentally with what he went through with his Mom. Definitely prayers for him.'
'I hope everyone understands the dangers of household mixing & jet setting. People actually forge test results, first and foremost. Second, just because you take precautions doesn’t mean the household that you’re visiting does. Chill out y’all,' warned another.
While this social media user also offered prayer when they wrote: 'I know his anxiety is high after his mother’s passing. I pray for him and I hope he keeps his head up.'
Get well soon Karl.
