Emily Blunt Reveals Why She Didn't Pursue Pop Stardom
Emily Blunt once considered pursuing a career in pop music, USA Today has reported. When Blunt stopped by the set of Jimmy Kimmel Live! on Tuesday night, the 37-year-old actress revealed that she almost moved away from acting.
Emily joked that she could've been Britney Spears. According to Blunt, she sang many songs, but most of them will never see the light of day. Emily joked that she didn't want to reveal too much about her old songs because someone would eventually find them.
According to the A Quiet Place star, a songwriter said she had a great voice and had real potential to become a pop star. However, an issue was her dancing skills, which the record label hoped to address.
Unfortunately, it didn't work out that way. Emily joked that she tried to work on her moves, but it just didn't come naturally. Thankfully, she later worked on a play alongside the legendary Judi Dench, which pushed her back on to the right path.
Blunt claims Dench told her that she either had to pursue a career in one or the other. She couldn't do both at the same time. Blunt claims the legendary actress actually talked her out of it, which ended up being the right decision.
Blunt is currently in the middle of promoting her brand new film, A Quiet Place Part II, directed and written by her husband, John Krasinki, whom she married privately back in 2010. Blunt and Krasinski's first film was a sleeper hit, going on to earn millions of dollars at the box office on a small budget.
Earlier this year, Chris Martin, while appearing on The Ellen DeGeneres Show , claims he sent a text message to Emily Blunt and John featuring what he thought was a hilarious joke. Martin suggested a musical version of A Quiet Place without any talking or music.
Apparently, the joke fell flat and neither party actually responded to the text. Krasinki later responded to the tweet from Ellen's camp, saying that he never got an email from Chris, but Martin was a "global treasure."
