According to a report from Us Magazine, the legendary supermodel, Christie Brinkley, joined the 28th season cast of Dancing With The Stars, however, she isn’t the only one thrilled to join the show. The 65-year-old said to reporters from Us Magazine that she had heard her ex-husband, Billy Joel, was also happy to hear the news.
“He thought it was a really fun, great thing to be doing,” the model remarked. As fans of the former couple know, Christie and Billy got married in 1985 and in the same year, had one child together named Alexa.
Brinkley later had two more children, Sailor and Jack, 21 and 24, with her ex-husband, Peter Cook. This wouldn’t be the first time that Brinkley and Joel cheered each other on. Five years ago in August of 2014, Christie applauded Billy Joel while he performed at the Madison Square Garden.
The model took to her Twitter to write, “Billy’s still got it!” In addition to the fact that Joel is excited to see Christie on DTWS, her children are also stoked at the idea as well. Christie said to the outlet that their kids are all “rescheduling their lives” to coincide with Dancing With The Stars.
Furthermore, the Sports Illustrated Swimsuit model claimed her new partner is amazing; she has the “perfect partner.” The model said she knows she got really lucky when it comes to her instructor.
Born on the 2nd of February, 1954, Christie has gone on to become one of the most iconic models of all time after first coming to prominence on the cover of Sports Illustrated in the 1970s. In 1979, for instance, Christie appeared on not one but three covers one after another.
Furthermore, Brinkley was the brand ambassador of Cover Girl for twenty-five years and has appeared on more than 500 magazines over her long and illustrious career.
Regarding her personal life, Christie has gotten married four times including the aforementioned Billy Joel, whose music videos she appeared in on a number of occasions. She later got divorced from Peter Cook following her Joel relationship, ending in a 2008 separation that was covered in the media.
