It seems like Kate (Chrissy Metz) has been pregnant for quite some time now, and with her due date getting closer by the week, it is likely that she will welcome her baby before Season 3 of This Is Us calls it a wrap. But exactly when Kate will give birth remains a mystery.
There is a chance that the birth will take center stage during Season 3 finale. Kate’s pregnancy is a big enough story to draw people in for the last episode, especially if the shows finds a way to add in a twist and make it an even bigger story than it already is.
That said, there is also an argument for the baby arriving a few episodes before Season 3 ends.
According to Carter Matt, an upcoming episode of This Is Us hints that the birth is coming sooner than expected. The installment is titled “The Waiting Room,” which suggests that Kate will at the very least visit the hospital soon.
That does not mean she will give birth during the episode, which airs in two weeks, but it certainly suggests that it is a possibility.
If Kate does give birth in a coming episode, questions also surround her health and the health of the child. Given how we’ve already seen something bad happen to Kate’s baby in the past, we are betting the series won’t go down that road again.
After all, it would be a lot more interesting seeing Kate and Toby (Chris Sullivan) parenting than watching her deal with yet another loss.
With only three more seasons remaining, however, anything could happen, and it’s possible that Kate’s pregnancy is part of a larger story arc. Creator Dan Fogelman has gained a reputation for being unpredictable and it wouldn’t be that surprising if he has something planned that nobody sees coming.
Season 3 of This Is Us airs Tuesday nights on NBC.
