In a new cover story with Rolling Stone, Zoe Kravitz spoke with pop icons about sexual misconduct and Bill Cosby, including her own experiences with the inappropriate behavior of people with power and influence in Hollywood.
Kravitz – the daughter of Lisa Bonet and Lenny Kravitz – recreated the image of her mother thirty years after Bonet graced the cover of the rock and roll magazine. At the time, it was considered as a “risqué” photograph.
According to Zoe, at the beginning of her career, a director, whom she didn’t identify, had sexually harassed and made her feel uncomfortable as well as powerless.
Zoe said she worked with a man when she was around 19 or 20-years-old, and he would ask her if he could come into her room, in addition to trying to finagle her into showing off makeup and outfits for him to judge.
“It’s just never Ok for someone to do that. Especially, when they’re in a position of power.” Interestingly, Lisa Bonet starred as Denise Huxtable on The Cosby Show, and she also got pregnant with Zoe around that time, in 1988.
Kravitz explained that Bill Cosby was “very upset” to hear that she had gotten pregnant with Lenny Kravitz. Lisa described Bill as “Mr. Righteous,” and insinuated that he had a type of “sinister, shadow energy” about him that she couldn’t put her finger on.
Moreover, there’s a picture of Bill Cosby holding Zoe Kravitz when she was a child, and it wasn’t cute at all; in fact, Zoe said it was creepy. “She and he never got along,” Zoe explained to Rolling Stone, adding that she thinks Bill resented the fact that she was an independent thinker.
Regarding the picture, Zoe said, “it’s actually a really disturbing picture,” and Bill doesn’t look pleased or happy with it at all. As it was previously reported, Bill fell from the graces of Hollywood in arguably the worst of all time, among any celebrity in the entertainment industry.
He went from being America’s black dad to one of the most hated and derided serial rapists in the history of the United States. Following his conviction on three counts of sexual assault, Judge Steven O’Neill sentenced Cosby to 3 to 10 years in jail.
