After receiving a well-deserved star on the Hollywood Walk of Fame, Tyler Perry made history as the first African-American to privately own a major film studio. It seems as if all of black Hollywood was there to celebrate the historic moment.
The Atlanta studio was built on a former military base that stretches over 330 acres of land was presented last night in a huge launch party that warranted everyone from Oprah to Ava DuVernay.
Beyoncè and Jay-Z made a guest appearance that went viral.
The A-lister posted a series of stunning photos along with a message to her Instagram page that read: 'Happy Sunday. Congratulations to Tyler Perry on the opening of his studios. I could feel our ancestors’ presence. Surrounded by my heroes, I watched Denzel, Queen Oprah, Spike, Whoopi, Sir Poitier, Will, Halle , Dame Cicely and our angels John Singleton and Diahann Carroll honored. The Armand de Brignac crashed against each soundstage as fireworks lit up the sky. Generations of blood, sweat and tears, success, excellence and brilliance. It makes me so proud, so full, I could not stop crying. Thank you my Virgo brother for so much love and passion put into every detail. My prayer today is that you will take it all in. You inspire me to dream even bigger.'
The studio includes soundstages named after legends -- Will Smith is one of them.
The actor shared a video of him and Jada Pinkett getting dressed for the unforgettable event.
Smith's caption read: 'Me and @jadapinkettsmith clean up NICE! We flew down to ATL to be with @tylerperry as he opened the FIRST and largest Black-Owned studio. This moment is monumental in so many ways! And a sound stage in my name... 😳 I’m inspired and honored to be part of something of this magnitude. @tylerperrystudios.'
