Why It Took Fergie 11 Years to Give Birth To Her Latest Album
If you're a Fergie fan, then you know that her phenomenal solo album The Dutchess had not 1, not 2, but 5 Top Hit singles. The Dutchess brought us memorable songs including "Feralicious" and "Big Girls Don't Cry" and the dance club favorite "London Bridge." Well, no one expected it to take 11 years for the super talented Fergie to launch her next album. But we're all quite excited to hear Double Dutchess, which comes out this Friday!
Fergie’s songs are simply addictive and they stick with you. They’re the songs you can dance to or remember all the lyrics. So it is fabulous that she’s coming out with a new album.
Fergie was quite upfront about the reason for the delay: family comes first. She is Mom to adorable 4 year old Axl and was married to Josh Duhamel for 8 years. Fergie and Josh are just now separated. But Fergie explains that time with Axl is precious and that anything else truly can wait. "I'm not going to sacrifice time with my child," Fergie said. "That's just not going to happen. They can keep banging on my door [to release an album], but I'm like, "I'm with Axl. I'm off the grid! Bye!" Any Mom, Grandma or Aunt can certainly smile and respect just how devoted Fergie is to her child and family.
One thing Fergie admitted was much different about creating this album was the additional planning with respect to her schedule. The musical mama admitted that it was entirely different, including the hours that she spent in the studio. That everything had to be planned down to the last detail. Why, any working Mom or parent can certainly relate to how Fergie feels about that!
What really excites Fergie about her 2nd album is that she has reached more creatively and taken on more responsibility. She is not only composing the songs and singing them, but is the executive producer of the album. Double Dutchess will be everywhere you like to find music on Friday. Not only that but Fergie's releasing a visual experience inspired by the album which is called Seeing Double. We just can't wait!
