Why Everyone Mixes Up Actresses Isla Fisher And Amy Adams

While some Hollywood A-listers have an actor that may resemble them, perhaps no one experiences getting mixed up with someone else as much as Isla Fisher does with Amy Adams. While the two may look vaguely similar (it’s mostly the red hair) – their careers are very different.
Isla Fisher was recently on The Jimmy Kimmel Show where she explained how often this mixup occurs, not just amongst movie fans, but even those in the entertainment industry themselves. A perfect example was when Lady Gaga recently got the two of them mixed up.
During the illustrious Vanity Fair party that proceeds the Acadamy Awards, the pop superstar approached Fisher, who has never attended the party before and proceeded to praise her for her performance in American Hustle.
Fisher immediately became torn as she is such a fan of Lady Gaga’s and didn’t want to embarrass her. So she graciously accepted the praise and not too long after that Amy Adams actually did show up to the very same party. Talk about awkward!
Fisher is clear in saying that Adams is absolutely great and accomplished, and in many ways, she believes moreso than herself, but she wants people to stop mixing them up. They make very different stylistic choices as actresses and when you really look at their features, red hair aside, they actually don’t even look that similar. They have different eye colors, noses and face shapes.
Fisher explained that the mixups often make for incredibly awkward encounters when people approach her thinking she is Adams.
She recalls one time in Ikea where she was actually in a corner breastfeeding her baby and a woman and her two kids mistook her for Adams and gushed about how much they loved Enchanted.
Fisher mused that Adams probably doesn’t get mistaken for her so much as she has a much less extensive filmography than Adams. Fisher also typically plays comedic roles, which is unsurprising as she’s married to one of the funniest men in Hollywood, Sacha Baron Cohen.
Fisher also has a British accent while Amy Adams has an American accent. If one of them dyed their hair, the comparison would stop in its tracks. Either way, it’s an honest mistake for most people.
