It seems that it’s a great time to head off to the movie theater now or the upcoming weekend! The Jack Reacher 2 production, which had a production cost of $60 M, is currently screened in 1520 more theaters than Madea, the latter having a $20M production cost. The new movie is booked at 3780 locations, while Madea only at 2260. Last week, The Accountat ended up strong on the West Coast, and specialists expect Jack Reacher 2 to do the same. Apparently Madea is a favorite among African American women, since this category of the audience tends to go to the cinema after the church service.
However, this weekend Jack Reacher 2 has to compete with the playoff game between Cubs and Dodgers on Saturday and the Week 7 of the NFL season on Sunday. The price over $20 M for this production is definitely an improvement for the $15 M opening. Moreover, Jack Reacher flew to a multiple, with its $80 M. Currently, this morning Madea pushed ahead of Jack Reacher 2 when it comes to advance ticket sales.
Meanwhile, the Ouija: Origin of Evil movie is the cheapest one of the 4 wide releases, having an estimated cost of $9M, and it’s aiming for $5.5 M – $6 M these days and $14M for Saturday and Sunday. This would mean that it’s 30% off from the 2014 installment debuted.
Another interesting production to see at the cinema is the Keeping Up With the Joneses movie, produced by 20th Century Fox. The ticket sales show a $6.5 M estimation over the weekend, maybe even $7M, having for now just $2M-2.5M. This one cost $40M and it brings together Isla Fisher, Zach Galifianakis, Jon Hamm and Gal Gadot.
All in all, there are lots of great productions out there, which deserve two hours of your time.
