For those of you who were fans of the great hit “We Found Love”, released by Calvin Harris and Rihanna, it might seem hard to believe that it’s been five years since it was initially launched. A couple of days ago, Calvin Harris and Zane Lowe were present on Beats 1 and counted down some of the artist’s favorite songs from his own career. The track that was found on the top of the list was the first single with Rihanna, namely “We Found Love”.
The song has a special meaning for many people. It wasn’t just the beginning of a great collaboration, but it keeps inside the entire feeling of the EDM genre and the hype that was around it more at that time rather than nowadays. Indeed, it was released on September 22 in 2011, which seems like a long time ago.

It occupied the 24th place on the list with the highest-selling singles in the US history and it was present on 31 charts in around 25 countries. As paradoxically as it may seem, the song did not require any particular preparations or crafting. More so, the song was not meant for Rihanna initially. Despite all this, Calvin Harris still named it the greatest song in his entire career so far, which might mean that it defines its style.
As it seems, Rihanna’s gesture of inviting Calvin Harris to open her tour and to collaborate for a song together was the beginning of a great era, professionally speaking. Harris told Lowe that at that time his single “Bounce” with Kelis was being played all around and he hadn’t started yet to record “Feel so Close”.
He confessed that at the time he was on a high tide, since he started writing a lot and looking for the perfect pop-dance sound. Apparently “We Found Love” was the sound he was looking for.
