Victoria Beckham is against the idea that Geri Halliwell-Horner, Melanie Brown and Emma Bunton reunite as the Spice Girls, according to British newspaper The Sun.
The fashion designer, formerly known as Posh Spice has contacted her lawyers to put an end to this project.
“The girls are devastated. This is a very sad way to end this story,” said a source to The Sun . “Victoria has been a big part of their lives and now she is using lawyers to block their return,” the source said.
According to another source, the wife of David Beckham believes that a Spice Girl Reunion of any sort will damage her reputation in the fashion industry.
Geri, Mel B and Emma announced a few months ago they planned to rejoin as Spice Girls GEM. Soon after, their new song ‘Song For Her’ leaked on the Web and The Guardian reported that nothing had yet been arranged for their eventual return in December.
In an interview with the Sunday Times in October, Victoria Beckham had mentioned she supported the formation of the GEM provided the girls sing their own compositions.
“I think they should sing new material, because what the Spice Girls did was very special. If they sing the Spices Girls songs, I may be a little sad.”
Melanie Chisholm (Sporty Spice) also refused to rejoin the group.
The Spice Girls separated in 2000, but reformed on a few occasions, including in 2012 for the closing ceremony of the London Olympics.
