While in attendance at the Create and Cultivate Vision Summit in Miami, Venus Williams talked about her sister Serena, the other important women in her life and more! Here’s what she had to say!
According to the tennis player, even though she and Serena may play against each other on court quite a lot, in their day to day lives, their relationship is definitely above competitiveness in their sport.
That being said, when asked to fill in the blanks at the summit using the sentence: ‘A woman whose career I admire is…,’ her answer was very clear – Serena Williams!
Venus went on to share that she and Serena like to always motivate one another – be it as athletes and as business owners, since both of them have their own clothing lines.
Venus claims that when her sister succeeds in any field, she feels like she also wins.
But Serena is not the only woman in the family that Venus looks up to.
That being said, the tennis player went on to mention sister Isha Price.
‘She is always saving my life. We are a tight-knit family. We were taught that your sisters are your best friends,’ she dished.
As fans know, Serena and Venus have also been vocal about female equality in sports throughout their careers.
Venus actually had an important role in getting Wimbledon to award men and women an equal amount of prize money.
‘I ended up being part of something was much bigger than my dream of winning Wimbledon. It was something that had been going on since the ’60s and it was about time that we finally got equal prize money,’ Venus said about her achievement.
