Valentina Sampaio Becomes Victoria's Secret's Very First Transgender Model After The Brand's Controversial Comments On Inclusivity
According to some new reports, Valentina Sampaio, a transgender model, has been hired to be part of a Victoria's Secret campaign. If that is the case, it means she is the very first trans model to represent the lingerie company.
It sounds like the famous company is really trying to rebrand lately and for a brand that is so focused on presenting a certain image, that would mean more inclusivity.
Not too long ago, the 22 year old Brazilian beauty took to social media to share a pic that featured her in a bathrobe backstage at a photoshoot for Victoria’s Secret’s PINK line.
In the caption, she wrote: ‘Backstage click @vspink #bastidores #new #vspink #campaign #representatividade #diversity #beauty #selfie #model #life #fashion #usa #vstorm #valentinasampaio #bomdia.’
And that was not all! The model posted a selfie vid as well and reminded her followers to ‘Never stop dreaming. #staytuned #new #vspink #campaign #diversity #beauty #selfie #life #fashion #usa #vstorm.'
The Instagram updating also included a photo of her smiling while sitting down with the inspirational caption: ‘Life is amazing... Love more and hate less, hate's useless, just don't waste time with it!’
It definitely sounds like the model has managed to make her dream become a reality and she could not be any happier!
At this time, Victoria's Secret is yet to address Valentina’s posts however.
They do come amid the company’s attempt to rebrand due to declining sales following some controversial statements made by their chief marketing officer Ed Razek on including transgender and plus size models in their Fashion Show.
Some of the models as well as transgender icons did react to Valentina’s posts however, expressing happiness over it.
Victoria's Secret Angel Lais Ribiero wrote: ‘First transgender to shoot with Vs! This make me so happy! ❤️.’
Meanwhile, Orange Is the New Black star Laverne Cox commented on Valentina’s post with ‘Wow finally!’
