Dan Henderson versus Michael Bisping was without a doubt one of the most anticipated fights. They both have impressive records. Bisping currently holds the record oh f 30 wins and 7 losses, while his opponent Dan Henderson holds an impressive record of 35 wins to 15 loses.
No one knew what to expect from this fight Bisping is the champ, so most people did have their bet on him. When push came to shove, Bisping was able to defend his middleweight title against the American Henderson.
In terms of finishes, there was nothing flashy. The fight ended in a unanimous decision. All three judges ended up scoring the fight 49-46, 48-47, 49-47.
It had to feel good to beat Henderson, especially considering the way Henderson knocked Bisping in impressive fashion in 2009. They are now 1-1 with no final rematch planned.
The fight was interesting indeed. Bisping proved he had quite the chin. Henderson dropped Bisping in the first and second round. It was insane that he was able to make the comeback and turn it into a decision win,
Henderson promised that regardless of the outcome of this fight, it would be his last one. He had this to say in his post-fight interview,
“This is the last time anyone will see me fight,” Henderson said. “I gave my heart and soul to this sport. Fans like you, even though you booed me at the beginning of the night, made it worthwhile for me to compete year after year. I absolutely love this sport.
Henderson is quite a legend. He fought in Pride, Strikeforce, and the UFC. All we can do is cross our fingers and hope that he comes back for one more brawl.
He wouldn’t be the first fighter to claim retirement, only to come back. Regardless, he left on an amazing fight and an extraordinary career.
