Teen Mom married couple Catelynn Lowell and Tyler Baltierra stopped by the ‘Voices for Change 2.0’ podcast, and they opened up about their mental health struggles! The two have been romantically involved for ten years now, and when it comes to battling their emotions, they definitely relate to one another a lot.
Rebecca and Joe Lombardo, the podcast’s hosts, listened to Catelynn’s story of depression and suicidal thoughts that ultimately got her into rehab.
In addition, she also revealed that not too long ago, she was diagnosed with Post-Traumatic Stress Disorder.
That being said, Tyler struggled with similar issues even when he was much younger.
The man shockingly recalled the instance when he attempted to take his own life at the age of only 11!
‘That is when I first started feeling depressed. And, obviously, my dad in and out of prison all the time. At 11, though, that is when I attempted suicide and failed. I was on anti-depressants a bit,’ Tyler revealed.
Later in the episode, he even mentioned that his depression could be related to bipolar disorder.
‘I have been diagnosed with depression here and there whenever I have gone back to therapy and whatnot. Recently, I went to another place and based on a few sessions I had with them, they said, ‘Look, based off a snapshot of your symptoms, we think you may be on the bipolar spectrum as well.”
‘That was pretty shocking, but it also made a lot of sense of back when I was younger. It was weird. But getting back into therapy, I have been managing that stuff,’ Baltierra said.
Are you shocked to learn this about Tyler or did you always suspect it?
