Years after they were allegedly sexually assaulted by Steven Seagal, two women came forward about it, encouraged by the #MeToo movement. Regina Simons and Fabiola Brugger Dadis who are represented by famed attorney Lisa Bloom, revealed during a press conference that Steven assaulted them when they were just trying to start a career in Hollywood.
Bloom announced to the room full of reporters that the two supposed victims had filed reports with the LAPD.
Simons claimed that when she was raped by Seagal, she was still a teenager.
At the time she had received a gig as an extra on the 1994 movie On Deadly Ground, and after the production ended, the actor invited her to a house party meant to celebrate the wrap-up.
However, when she arrived, she realized there were no other guests.
‘He led me into an adjacent room, which seemed to be a bedroom. He closed the door and approached me from behind, started kissing my neck and taking my clothes off. I was completely caught off guard and was in shock.’
‘Seagal was more than twice my size as well as more than twice my age. I wasn’t sexually active and had never been naked in front of any man before. I completely froze. I remember Seagal taking off his robe and the next thing I knew, he was inside me. There was nothing consensual about it. I couldn’t move. I felt as if I’d left my body and was watching from above. I felt tears come down my face and looked away from his gaze,’ the woman read her statement in front of the press.
Apparently, he tried to contact her a few times after the rape.
Ever since then, Simons claims she has been suffering from depression among other related health problems.
‘This is my truth, and while it hasn’t been easy, I’m healing. For the very first time in 25 years, I’ve allowed myself to process what took place and work through the pain. I pray that my abuser can heal as well. I want him to be aware. To acknowledge what happened; to be accountable and apologize.’
Dadis claimed she was harassed sexually by Seagal in 2002 when she was only 17.
At the time, he was casting for Genghis Khan, and she got invited to participate in a meeting at the Club Bar at Peninsula Hotel in Beverly Hills.
His assistant took her to his hotel room and then she was left alone with the actor and his security guard.
‘Steven asked me to take off my clothes, which I did even though I was nervous considering he was the only one there, and do a catwalk for him. I did so, and then Steven approached me and said he’d like to act out a romantic scene to get a sense of our chemistry. I felt uncomfortable because I was only in my bikini, and I shyly told him this.’
‘However, instead of respecting my boundaries, he slipped his hand under my bikini top and started pinching my nipples while simultaneously slid his hand across my vaginal area which was only meagerly covered.’
Fortunately, Dadis reacted differently to the assault as she did not freeze.
‘I yelled that the audition was over and began dressing up. Steven sat calmly as if nothing happened while I was upset and terrified by the experience.’
According to her, only when Seagal finally allowed her to leave did the security guard let her out.
Bloom stated that she is representing the two women pro bono and urged other possible victims of Seagal to come forward.
