According to a report from Nielsen Music, Travis Scott’s latest album, Astroworld, has consistently been at the top of the Billboard 200 albums chart for the second week in a row, earning 205,000 equivalent album units thus far.
From that total, a few over 78,000 were traditional album sales, including vinyl, CD’s, and Mp3 downloads. As music fans know, the Billboard 200 chart ranks the most popular albums of the week based on a metric that looks at traditional sales, streaming, and downloads.
Scott’s latest record is continuing to do well in the streaming business, as it recently sold 125,000 units, which means 167.5 million audio streams from Astroworld.
The next album to sit on the charts is Nicki Minaj’s Queen, which came in at around number 2. Nicki now has her fourth top-two charting album. So far, Nicki has the most charting albums of any hip-hop female artist.
Minaj’s record sold 185,000 equivalent album units, and 78,000 of them were traditional record sales. Like Astroworld, her album received a significant boost in sales from merchandise bundles sold on her website.
As for her upcoming tour, Nicki is slated to travel with Future for their co-headlining tour. Queen’s debut sum is the second largest week for an album created by a female artist in 2018, following Cardi B’s record, Invasion Of Privacy, which sold around 255,000 in its first week.
No doubt, Cardi and Nicki’s fans will be talking a lot of smack about each other on social media, considering they frequently like to compare the two artists.
As fans of Nicki know, she recently claimed the rumors that they had bad blood were ludicrous. Minaj added she doesn’t even know her. “Give me a f*cking break,” the rapper remarked when asked about the rumors by a reporter.
Nevertheless, fans love to talk drama, especially when it comes to interpersonal relationships. Travis, thus far, seems to disprove the “Kardashian curse theory,” that many fans like to point out. Ever since his relationship with Kylie Jenner began, he continues to dominate the music business.
