Black-ish star, funny gal and social justice crusader Tracee Ellis Ross somehow manages to embody pure joy on her social media accounts. Even though she regularly gives voice and highlights many facets of society that are systemically flawed and need to change.
Ross is pictured on the cover of the Septemeber issue of Elle Canada with her easily recognizable grin.
In line with her personality and general style choices, the editorial is filled to the brim with color and interesting accent pieces.
OMG ~ so excited to be the september 2018 @ellecanada cover girl! link in bio —— “Everybody has different choices, but my desire is to have the life that I’ve lived, all that I’ve done to learn the things that I’ve learned, all the hard lessons I need to own beaming through me and out of my face and out of my body. The history of what I come from—my heartbreaks and my joys—all of it is living in my face. All of those things have made me the woman I am.” —— wearing a @prabalgurung sweater & @simonmillerusa earrings photographer: @ninomunoz editor-in-chief: @vanessacraft art director: @jedtallo stylist: @elainejyll hair: @larryjarahsims makeup: @lisastoreymakeup nails: @nailbaby_maho #ELLECanadaxTracee
When the topic of aging was raised, Ross had some thoughtful insight.
She is often seen in her Instagram stories providing beauty tips and tricks to eliminate wrinkles and remedy sagging skin.
Ross is quick to point out: “I don’t want to feel like I’m a hostage to an Instagram version of myself.”
This is why, despite the steps she takes to thwart certain signs of aging, she embraces the process with honesty and understands it will exist regardless of certain measures taken.
ELLE CANADA SEP.18 ~ cover story. link in bio. —— "I’ve learned how to be kind and loving to myself, even when I feel like I haven’t done my best. It’s very, very difficult. And also how to be transparent about that with people who I trust and feel safe with, who have taught me how to love myself even when I don’t feel lovable.” —— #ELLECanadaxTracee
“My belief is that all these lines on my face and neck and the softness in my legs and body are evidence of a life lived.”
The 45-year old credits how she feels about both fashion and age to her mother.
With someone as sensational as Diana Ross as your mom, it could have been a strained, tenuous relationship for her.
Yet, it wasn’t because of how Ross was raised and what type of mother Diana is.
Of her legend mother, Ross says that she wasn’t felt she grew up in “her embrace rather than her shadow,” which she feels is a direct and esteemed testament to her mother and the type of woman she is.
The pure exuberance, spirit, and spunk that emanates from Ross are impressive and inspiring, especially as a woman who is outspoken, talented and living life completely on her own terms.
