Toronto Police Reveal Video Footage Of The Events Leading Up To Rapper Houdini's Death
Dimarjio Antonio Jenkins, the Toronto rapper who went by the name, Houdini, was tragically shot and killed on the 26th of May, Tuesday. Hot New Hip Hop reported earlier this month that the rapper was murdered in Toronto's Entertainment District in the middle of the daytime.
The shooting left three other people hurt. The aforementioned outlet reported that the other victim was a 27-year-old woman, who was merely standing near the scene of the crime and had nothing to do with the shooting.
A 6-year-old boy was also nearly shot. The Toronto police uncovered video footage of the shooting which showed the events leading up to the tragic death of Houdini. During a news press conference, Andy Singh, the Detective Sergeant, explained that the shooter was waiting for the rapper to arrive.
Once the suspect saw the vehicle, they shot at the 21-year-old which led to a brief gunfight in which 23 shots were exchanged between both parties. Houdini was killed and a 15-year-old boy he was hanging out with was hurt.
When Singh spoke with reporters, he said that the shooting in the middle of the daytime is likely what led to the increase in collateral damage. He explained that the suspect obviously doesn't have much respect for human beings.
From Singh's statement, it's clear that the police are unhappy with the shooting for a number of reasons. The detective claimed that it was "unacceptable" for something that terrifying to occur on one of their busiest streets.
According to the police, the 21-year-old rapper is believed to be the primary target of the shooting. Regarding what the suspect was wearing, police say he had on a "medical mask" and "light-colored Nike shoes."
The detective went on to urge the public to please come forward if they had any information about it. As most hip-hop fans know, this wouldn't be the first time this year that an up-and-coming rapper was shot. Pop Smoke, who was 20 at the time of his death, was staying in a home rented out by a Real Housewives star when men barged into the house and killed him.
