Tom Petty Dies At The Age Of 66

Tom Petty from Tom Petty and The Heartbreakers has officially passed away. Tom died on Monday morning after he suffered a heart attack at his home in Malibu. The singer most known for “Free Falling” was taken off of life support after medical professionals revealed his brain was no longer functioning. Tom was just 66-years-old.
Last night, Sunday, October 1st, Tom was rushed to the hospital when he was found on the floor of his home not breathing according to E! News. In a report from TMZ, paramedics were able to get a pulse at one point, and they rushed him to the UCLA Santa Monica Hospital where they put him on life support.
E! News adds that the LA County Fire department confirmed that a 66-year-old man was rushed to the UCLA hospital at 10:45 pm on Sunday night.
The spokesperson for the department claimed, “this is a place where we take patients who get pulses back. When he handed him over he was still unconscious, but he did have pulses, and we were assisting his breathing.”
The Sheriff’s Department of the Lost Hills in Hollywood California confirmed that the patient was Tom Petty – the legendary rock artist.
The announcement is a huge shock to many of his fans, as just a few days ago, Tom Petty and his band played at the Hollywood Bowl on the 25th of September.
Throughout his career, the rock icon released 13 albums with The Heartbreakers and won three Grammy awards. In 2017, he was named the MusiCares Person of The Year. He is survived by two daughters, Adria Petty, and Kimberly Violette Petty. He married Dana York in 2001 and made their marriage last all the way to the end.
