Timbaland Confesses He Almost Died From A Painkiller Overdose: 'I Saw A Light'
Timbaland has confessed that just three years ago he came very close to losing his life! The artist revealed that he almost died in his sleep after nearly overdosing on painkillers.
‘All that I can tell you is there was a light. I woke up trying to catch my breath like I was underwater,’ Timbaland recalled the scary experience.
The man went on to explain that he started taking painkillers more than a decade ago because he was struggling with nerve issues resulting from an old gunshot wound he received in his teens.
However, the necessity turned into addiction soon enough.
‘Music’s a gift and curse. Once you are not popping, it plays with your mind. The pills helped block out the noise – I would just sleep all day. I remember Jay Z told me one time, 'Don't do no more interviews' -- because I was saying crazy s**t.’
His addiction grew even worse over time and his reputation as a great songwriter and DJ was ruined, and that led to even more painkillers!
That night when he nearly passed away, the man’s outlook on life completely changed, however.
‘I saw where I’d be if I do not change, and where I could be if I did. I thought about Michael Jackson… I did not want to be old and taking these pills,’ he went on.
And slowly, he began kicking his addiction by lowering the dosage every day until he was completely clean.
Are you shocked Timbaland went through such a scary experience?
