A severe tragedy might have just been avoided. The Roots announced that their show which was scheduled for yesterday, March 17, was canceled after a bomb threat.
Hiphopdx announced that by canceling the concert, a tragedy might have been averted.

Bud Light which is the brand that was sponsoring the event released a statement that announced the fans the bad news. Check it out below:
‘Due to a security concern, we have made the difficult decision to cancel tonight’s Bud Light x The Roots SXSW Jam. After working proactively with SXSW, the Austin Police Department, and other authorities, Bud Light believes this is the best course of action to ensure the safety of our guests, staff, and artists, and appreciate your understanding.’
‘We are truly sorry to have to cancel the event, but we felt it was necessary to take all safety precautions,’ the statement read.
It was also reported that some bomb-sniffing dogs were brought into the JW Marriott hotel in Austin where The Roots were staying.
Due to a security concern we have made the hard decision to cancel tonight's event. Your safety and the safety of all fans at SXSW is our most important priority.

The drummer of the group posted and then deleted the following message:
‘& before ya’ll ask yes it was a severe emergency.’
Austin has been recently shaken by various package bombs and these already left two people dead and two more injured. Consequence of Sound reported that the law enforcement believes that these attacks are racially motivated.
