Fans of the Fox series Lucifer were devastated to hear the show was canceled. The fight to save the series picked up after the season three finale left with a cliffhanger, prompting fans and cast members to target their efforts more effectively. Over the weekend, social media saw “Lucifer” trend but now cast members and fans are spreading the word there are two official hashtags to use: #SaveLucifer and #PickUpLucifer.
Lucifer cast members such as Tom Ellis (Lucifer), Lauren German (Chloe Decker), Lesley-Ann Brandt (Mazikeen), Rachael Harris (Linda Martin) and even William Shatner are actively tweeting about the cancellation, the hashtags and hoping a network will pick up the series.
None of the cast members want the show to end. There have been over 1 million tweets asking for a network to step in and give the series new wings.
Fans have renewed their efforts after learning that not only was Fox series Brooklyn Nine-Nine canceled, but NBC picked it up within 31 hours.

The practice of picking up canceled shows has become more popular and with new forms of watching television shows, it’s a trend that’s likely to increase.
Originally meant for NBC, Fox picked up The Mindy Project that premiered on Sept. 25, 2012, with the last episode airing on March 24, 2015. Fans were disheartened that Fox canceled the show. Soon HULU announced they picked it up.
The Mindy Project lived another three seasons due to HULU saving the series.
As more television networks have tapped into fan power that is inherent to social media, more fan protests have been credited with saving shows.
Sometimes networks lose touch with their target audience, despite having social media accounts and cast memes that engage in interaction with fans.
It’s possible that the delaying of Chloe’s and Lucifer’s romance caused issues for the series, and Fox executives didn’t realize how desperately fans waited to see the couple continue the romance they started in the first season.
With what appears to be millions of fans coming to Lucifer’s rescue, it seems likely that some network will want to pick up the series.
At this point, there is no clue as to which network may be interested in saving Lucifer. Stay tuned as we follow this breaking story.
