After being robbed at gunpoint in Paris in 2016, Kim Kardashian swore to stop flaunting her jewelry and super expensive lifestyle on social media. For the better part of a year, she abided by that promise and didn’t really showcase any bling on her pages. Just days ago, she broke that rule for the first time by uploading a picture of her showcasing a gleaming grill.
Just days later, she’s back at it with a different glittery grill in her mouth and a series of necklaces around her neck. However, this may be purposeful and purely a marketing strategy as the necklaces are actually apart of her husband, Kanye West’s 12-piece jewelry collection. One of the necklaces reads PABLO, an ode to his most recent album, The Life Of Pablo.
West said that the inspiration surrounding the jewelry line was “timeless love,” he wanted to create something that was classic and romantic. These gold necklace pieces have a bit of a 14th-century Florentine art flare to them that West drew concepts from.
This jewelry isn’t the excessive kind Kim used to flaunt on social media before being robbed, in fact, since then she has opted to wear more understated pieces of jewelry. Much less bling has been added to her looks in the last year or so. It appears that choice may also be directly tied to her being robbed.
Kim has revealed how that traumatic experience has changed and shaped her during various interviews and on Keeping Up With the Kardashians. She suffers from anxiety and post-traumatic stress because of the incident. The entire Kardashian family has bulked up security tremendously in the wake of what happened to Kim in Paris. The five men who entered her apartment, wearing ski masks and pointing guns have since been arrested and are awaiting trial.
So maybe the “no jewelry” rule has been altered just a bit to make way for specific pieces that she may be promoting for various reasons. Either way, it looks like the over the top bling has been put away for the time being. It may be a few months or years before she reverts back to wearing it.
