Anne Wojcicki’s mother, Esther, opened up about her perception of Alex Rodriguez’s intelligence in a new interview published by The New York Times on the 18th of November, Saturday. She said to the organization that he “seemed to be genuinely in love” with her daughter, but she knew it was a “mismatch” right away.
Esther stated that Alex had “no academic background” and he couldn’t have an “intellectual conversation” about anything, other than baseball.
Additionally, she claimed the 42-year-old former star of the New York Yankee’s spent too much time watching TV. She alleged, “he could park himself in front of a TV and watch baseball for ten hours a day.”
Despite her critique of the player, Esther had a few kind things to say about him, including that she “liked him” and he was a “nice man.”
She added, “he came from a Hispanic family,” and we all liked them because of their “sweetness.” As you know, A-Rod and Wojcicki, 44, split up back in late 2016 after dating for almost two years.
Later on, in the same interview, Esther said Rodriguez’s stardom was a contributing factor in their relationship’s demise. Her daughter, Anne, is the CEO of the genetics firm, 23andMe, and is also the co-founder.
She stated they “couldn’t go anywhere” because everyone always wanted a “selfie with A-Rod.” According to Esther, that’s probably the reason why Alex and Jennifer Lopez are such a good couple because Lopez would say, “take a picture of me anytime.”
Since she began dating the baseball player, Jennifer has gushed over Alex in the media, including in discussion with Vanity Fair where she said Rodriguez always “comes back stronger.”
