A classic story adapted over and over again is almost here in yet another form! The latest version of Mary Rodgers’ 1972 novel Freaky Friday is a musical film which is set to air on Disney Channel, and the first look at the series is definitely going to make you want to watch it!
The video is a great example of what we should expect from the series.
It stars Cozi Zuehlsdorff, who plays the mother Katherine in daughter Ellie’s body as well as Heidi Blickenstaff who obviously, plays the exact opposite (the daughter in the mom’s body.)
Even though this is going to be a musical adaptation, the sneak peek does not feature a musical number.
However, it is filled with comedy as well as emotion, and it’s making us super excited to see what else it has in store for us all!
Check out the hilarious scene here:
Zuehlsdorff previously opened up about one of the moments she enjoyed the most saying: ‘I love the scene so much because it’s so funny but also so real and it shows how we go from such comedic moments to really genuine ones.’
As you may be aware, Freaky Friday was adapted onscreen for the very first time back in 1976, starring Barbara Harris and Jodie Foster.
The next version was released in 1995 with stars Shelley Long and Gaby Hoffman stepping into the main roles of the Disney Family Movie that was made for ABC.
Finally, perhaps the most iconic version that most remember and think of when they hear Freaky Friday is the 2003 film starring Jamie Lee Curtis and none other than Lindsay Lohan.
What do you think about the musical’s sneak peek? Are you going to tune in when it airs later this year?
