During a sentencing hearing on the 2nd of February, Randall Margraves, the father of three girls abused by Larry Nassar, attempted to attack the disgraced doctor but was detained by police and security.
Randall’s actions came shortly after his three daughters delivered their victim impact statements revealing how the doctor manipulated them.
Janice Cunningham, who served as the judge, granted the father of the three girls to address the courtroom where he asked if he could have “five minutes in a locked room with this demon.”
Obviously, the judge said would not permit such a thing and the man ran across the room toward Larry before being tackled to the ground by security. Randall can be heard yelling, “Let me at him.”
Attorney General, Angela Povilaitis, said “we cannot behave like this,” and this type of behavior was letting the doctor exercise his power over them.
Following Randall’s outburst, the judge empathized with victims as well as their parents and stated the importance of conducting ourselves within the parameters of the legal system.
As you may know, more than 130 women and girls have accused of Nassar of inappropriate or sexually abusive behavior.
The impact statements given by over one hundred women and girls have made the news including the comments from Olympic gold medalists like McKayla Maroney. Celebrity Insider reported at the beginning of the month that Simone Biles also accused the doctor of molestation.
The Nassar case is perhaps the worst one to hit the mainstream media following the report published by The New York Times detailing the alleged crimes of the disgraced producer, Harvey Weinstein. Nevertheless, more and more women are revealing their stories of abuse in other industries including broadcasting, the restaurant business, and the fashion industry.
