The Conners is doing much better than Roseanne Barr's supporters had hoped. When ABC made the surprising announcement they were canceling the top new show due to remarks some deemed racist, people were shocked. While anyone who had followed Roseanne's career over the years wasn't surprised that she would make a politically targeted joke that would be viewed as controversial, the fact that ABC would cancel the reboot after it was a ratings' success was a shock.

After a period of confusion and indecision, fans of the show (and specifically Sara Gilbert) rallied together in hopes the show would continue without Roseanne. Even Barr said she felt terrible about the people who lost their jobs overnight due to her tweet.

As Roseanne Barr is an outspoken proponent of President Donald Trump, and many of her cast members held different political views, some argued that it was really Barr's personal belief that resulted in the abrupt firing and show's cancellation.

When it was announced the show would continue without Roseanne controversy spread across social media platforms. Some politicized the new show with many on the right hoping the show would fail and vowed not to watch it. Those on the left supported the firing and wanted to see the show take a new direction that was aligned with more Democratic views.

Interestingly, the Roseanne reboot was about a family with different political views working together. Art didn't imitate life though when ABC heads decided there was no working with the Emmy-winning actress, producer, and writer due to her tweet.

ABC announced that The Conners has won its Tuesday night timeslot by 17 percent and is now the number two television show following NBC's This Is Us . The Conners is so popular, it only trails This Is Us by half a point.

ABC ordered 11 episodes of The Conners Season 1. The show airs Episode Six "One Flew Over The Conners' Nest on Tuesday, November 27, 2018.

ABC released an episode summary and announced that Fred Savage will direct the episode and Sarah Chalke will return in the role of Andrea.

"With Mark and Mary’s help, Jackie convinces Dan to build a chicken coop in the backyard so the family can eat organic eggs, but from a bird’s-eye view, it appears that she may have ulterior motives. Becky meets with Andrea for the first time since the surrogacy mishap, and Darlene is forced to deal with a sleazy customer at her casino job."

Have you watched The Conners ? What do you think of the series sans Roseanne Barr? The Conners airs on Tuesday nights at 8 p.m. ET.

Um, except it's NOT. ????? Their STARTING ratings where nowhere near what execs wanted, they were right on par with the ratings from the last episode of Roseanne last season, which wasn't all that great. The execs are talking about pulling the plug on the whole thing, and not making more episodes. Nice try though. The people have spoke, and you just don't like what we have to say! ???

The show has lost it's spark without Rosanne. I watched the 1st episode of "The Conners" just to see how they explained her 'death'. It was just as predicted & expected. That was the last viewing for me and my extended family. Even my father who is in his 80's remarked it lost it's appeal. To be fair though I vowed to boycott the show solely because of the extreme treatment of Rosanne by the ABC President of entertainment. (I see she has recently stepped down. Sooner would have been better. She left enough destruction in her wake.) Now they are trying to prop up the show by adding guest stars. This looks like a desperate attempt to keep it afloat. But the true ratings show that it is heading in a downward spiral. The warning sign is flashing guys...put on your parachutes!

I'm loving the show without her so far. I agree that it took a bit to get used to it without Roseanne, but I'm not a blind follower of hers. I base my opinion of the show on quality of acting and story vs. if it has Roseanne in it or not. People say the show is tanking, but it's a pipe dream shared by her supporters and people that believe the right is being attacked in all forms of media. Many of them secretly watch it too, but will never admit it.

Travis, I have to believe that you are a delusional leftist simply by the way you worded your post. If you are "loving it without her so far" how could it have taken getting used to? There have only been 5 episodes without her, and the first one was about her death. People on both sides of the debate watched the first episode, no doubt. But the ratings dropped 17% among the coveted 18-49 year old demographics, & 10% overall over the course of the past 2 episodes. This is a show that had a built in audience when it started, and it's ratings are dropping like a prom dress.

Getting used to no Rosanne, I would suppose he meant. You DO know ratings almost always drop off from the first episode, right? Some just tuned in to see what happened with Roseanne. And left when they found out.

I like The Conners but it will NEVER be as good without Roseanne. I believe her firing was a mistake! The ratings are not as good as you are making them out to be, they have been losing viewers every week. I watch the show mostly for John Goodman, though, and he has been awesome! I hope the show does get a second season, mostly for the fact that if it does not, then Roseanne signed away her rights to the show for nothing!

I enjoy watching 'The Conners'. I've enjoyed watching them over the years. I'll admit it was odd w/out Roseanne @ first but, now, I'm over it. Great show. I didn't realize how grating & irritating Barr's voice was until she was gone!

Winning its time slot and being the highest rated new show are two VERY different things. This isn't as high in the ratings department as you think it is.

The TRUTH about "The Connors" is that the ratings from the beginning of the season were NOWHERE NEAR the ratings that the "Roseanne" reboot got last season. The FACT is that "The Connors" has been consistently LOSING viewers every single week, and ominously, ABC has NOT ordered a full season of episodes -- only 11 instead of 22. "The Connors" is TOAST.

What a joke. I haven’t watched the 1st episode of The Conners. Without Roseanne who created the show, it means nothing. ABC should have maybe punished her for a few episodes at the most, but shouldn’t have fired her at all. Unless they bring her back, it will never do as good as the reboot. #bringbackroseanne

This is how sad this country is when Democrats purposely ruin thing, like trying to continue a very poorly directed show that shunned the star Roseanne. This show needs to be cancelled. Never watching it. I don't care what the ratings are. Take it off the air!

ABC's decision to terminate Roseanne was too harsh. I miss Roseanne Conner and I feel like ABC punished its viewers too. That being said, "The Conners" is a marvelous show. Somehow it has managed to mix all the heartfelt humor along with a new bittersweet presence that compliment one another perfectly. We know these characters and they are still played to perfection by a stellar cast. It's time may be limited. But for now it's better than most every other show on TV. And it's much better than it's predecessor was in its final years.

LMAO... the show is tanking so bad that the actors will be taking pay cuts. They negotiated their salaries back when the show was successful -- i.e., BEFORE the uber-liberal and politically correct ABC network committed ratings suicide by firing the main character... https://www.msn.com/en-us/tv/news/the-conners-stars-hit-with-pay-cut-drama-amid-poor-ratings/ar-BBPFuEX

The Conners may or may not be cancelled ...but you cant deny that firing Roseanne didnt cost them a huge ratings drop, even the best Conners rating only equaled the worse Roseanne one, ignoring the premiere of both series the latest figures for The Conners are 5million less than Roseanne`s worse episode rating ..

To be clear. I am one that won't watch The Connors. Do I hope it fails? I don't care. I like John Goodman, Laurie Metcalf and possibly Lecy Gorinson. Sara and Michael... Cancel them.

You are aware that Sara is the reason the show exists right? She's the producer, she won't leave unless the whole show is gone- have you seen it lately it's the Darlene show!

I grew up watching Roseanne and always loved it. The last season or two of the original series though was not as great as the older seasons. When the reboot came about though it seemed a little strange and quite different than the original. Roseanne herself seemed like a different person while everyone else was as I remembered them. I am enjoying The Connors now and I feel like this is more like what the reboot should have been all along. Do I wish Roseanne was still part of the show? Yes, if she was still the same Roseanne... but I feel she is not the woman she used to be. The Connors is doing a great job of carrying the original Roseanne show's legacy.

Ha! Yeah right! I don't believe for a minute that this show is doing good. On IMDB and Google, the ratings has it extremely low. Rotten tomatoes (a leftist ran site) has it doing good but that's because they tally what leftist critics are saying...

No, the Darlene show isn’t doing well at all, it’s tanking and the word is the “stars” are getting pay cuts and ABC canned the same exec who not only canceled Roseanne, but Last Man Standing. Less people are watching ABC and their lineup of crap all the time. But keep telling yourself that up is down, right is wrong et al...
