Raven Symone is leaving ABC’s “The View” in order to star in an upcoming spin-off of her classic comedy series “That’s so Raven” on the Disney Channel.
The news was announced during Thursday’s episode of “The View” and it seems like Raven is really melancholic about the hit series if she decided to give up her current gig. “I’m excited and sad, but mostly excited. No, I’m not pregnant. I have a really big surprise you guys. We’re doing a “That’s So Raven 2.”
The actress will leave New York for Los Angeles, where the filming of “That’s so Raven” will be taking place. The 30 year old actress is going to not only reclaim her old role as the psychic, future-seeing Raven Baxter that she played from 2003 to 2007, but will also be involved behind the camera as an executive producer.
We can only say that her decision in definitely the right choice as her parting from “The View” does not bring her a lot of loss in her career. Simone has been given less screen time lately and only appeared once a week on the morning show.
The show is known for its temporal and rotating hosts, some of them currently being Joy Behar, Candace Cameron Bure, Paula Faris, Sara Haines, Jedediah Bila and others. Lately the show has also been focusing maybe a bit too much on politics because of the upcoming presidential election and has lost Symone’s interest.
The “That’s so Raven” spin-off follows the example of another older show which came back in a different form not too long ago – ”Girl Meets World”
In “Girl Meets World” we explore the life of Cory Matthews’ daughter as she ‘meets the world’. Similarly, the new installment of the Disney show follows Raven as a divorced mom to two pre-teens, one of them having her psychic ability to see the future.
It sounds like an exciting plot for the original show’s fans. Are you looking forward to it?
