There is a very troubling exchange taking place on Twitter between Terry Crews and D.L. Hughley, but when you get down to it, the exchange is downright sad. Terry Crews is one of the most outspoken men to share a personal MeToo story regarding an alleged sexual assault that took place between the actor and former William Morris Endeavor agent Adam Venit at a 2016 party. Since Crews went public with the allegations, Venit has apologized (though he never came out and admitted sexually groping Crews) and stepped down from WME. Crews sued Venit and WME and the case was settled.
Though Terry Crews filed a police report the case wasn’t picked up.
Despite what some might view as setbacks, there is no question that Terry Crews is the best male ally the Me Too movement has. It is very difficult for men to come forward and speak about sexual abuse publicly and same-sex sexual abuse is often more difficult due to the connotations it holds.
Some men come forward, such as Anthony Edwards and speak out as a one-time deal. They tell their story, then announce they never want to revisit the subject again and they don’t.
Terry Crews is different.
He is bold and he is not ashamed of the actions someone else did.
He has told his story to the world as well as the U.S. Senate Judiciary Committee where he spoke out on behalf of having legislation changed.
Crews has a lot of public support and many have come to his rescue in light of the comments and blame D.L. Hughley hurled his way.
In a video interview, D.L. Hughley stated that God had given muscles to Terry Crews, therefore, he shouldn’t have been sexually assaulted.
The comments that infuriated Twitter may be heard in the video player below.
I have looked up to you my whole career as one of the funniest most talented people I’ve ever seen.
I remember when I saw you warming up the crowd at FRESH PRINCE OF BEL AIR and I thought “this man is a genius.”

During the video interview that took place approximately a month ago, D.L. Hughley was asked his opinions on the Terry Crews, alleged sexual assault case.
Hughley replied, “I think it’s hard for me to think that a dude with all those muscles can not tell an agent to not touch his a##.”
The comments drew fire as they attempt to put blame on Terry Crews for his abuse and not on the alleged accuser.
