Terry Crews recently received backlash from fans after he tweeted about ‘Black supremacy’ — a notion that simply cannot exist in America considering that blacks only make up 13 percent of the population. After many people, including his former TV son Tyler James Williams, attempted to explain why he way of thinking as problematic — Terry appeared on The Talk where he doubled down on his claims.
If you didn’t already know, Crews tweeted: ‘Defeating White supremacy without White people creates Black supremacy. Equality is the truth. Like it or not, we are all in this together.’
It seems as if Terry didn’t get the memo that the fight against systemic racism is not a Black versus white issue — it’s everyone versus racism.
When the White Chicks star spoke to the ladies of The Talk, he attempted to explain why he said what he said.
‘In the Black race, in Black America, we have gatekeepers. We have people who have decided that who is going to Black and who’s not. I, simply because I have a mixed-race wife, have been discounted from the conversation a lot of times by very militant movements. Black Power movement. I’ve been called all kinds of things like an Uncle Tom, simply because I’m successful, simply because I worked my way out of Flint, Michigan. The problem with that is Black people have different views. It’s funny, because when you’re White, you can be Republican, Libertarian, Democrat. You can be anything. But when you’re Black, you have to be one thing.’
Terry has managed to make the situation worse. As the clip was reposted on blogs like The Neighborhood Talk, fans expressed their disappointment.
‘It ain’t because his wife is mixed 🙄 JCole, Obama, Zendaya, Halle Berry etc .. are mixed and people don’t have a problem with them speaking on black lives. It’s the way he handled the Gabi Union situation,’ commented one.
‘It’s not because he has a mixed race wife, secondly no one has ever counted him out the conversation he simply never knows wtf to say!’ explained another.
This person said: ‘No one discounts him except for him. He says and does a lot of rubbish.’
Terry keeps digging himself into a deeper hole.
