Remember when it was reported that Billboard.com revealed some great news for both Travis Scott and Tekashi 69’s fans? Travis’ album reportedly hit no.1 in Billboard 200 and 69’s album, ‘DUMMY BOY’ was placed on the second spot.
But then, something happened that made a lot of people nervous.
DJ Akademiks who is a really good friend of Tekashi’s made a really unexpected announcement which was confirmed at the time. The Shade Room shared his post as well.
Now, Hot New Hip Hop reports that ‘a major mishap on the Billboard 200 resulted in Travis Scott’s Astroworld topping the chart while 6ix9ine’s DUMMY BOY sat at number two.’
The online publication continues and explains that ‘After a deeper investigation was concluded, it turned out that the number one spot went to Tekashi 6ix9ine who beat out Travis Scott by less than 200 units. Billboard still hasn’t updated the site, and now, it looks legal action has been threatened against Nielsen.’
They also say that, according to HDD, the Billboard 200 mishap could trigger a huge lawsuit. They continue and write the following:
‘In a series of meetings that took place last Friday between Sony, Billboard, and Create Music Group — the distributor of 6ix9ine’s DUMMY BOY — lawsuits were threatened over Nielsen’s failure to provide accurate numbers for all DSP’s, specifically TIDAL and Soundcloud.’
After the reports about Nielsen’s inaccuracy surfaced, Billboard withdrew their initial chart which was having Travis as number 1, and they still have to release the charts showing Tekashi on the first spot.
But now, as Billboard announced, Meek Mill is a winner on the new Billboard 200 albums chart which is dated December 15. DUMMY BOY, Tekahsi’s album became number 3.
We’ll have to see what happens next. Tekashi cannot enjoy this as he should because as you all know, he’s currently in jail.
