Teen Mom OG stars Ryan Edwards and Mackenzie Standifer are teasing fans on Instagram that a spin-off may be coming that focuses on the two of them. After ending last season with Edwards suspected drug abuse, the couple has a lot of things to set straight, and it seems MTV is going to give them the chance to clear the air.
In Touch Weekly is reporting that Edwards – who shares 8-year-old son Bentley with ex Maci Bookout – is doing better, and he and his wife recently held a second wedding ceremony, which is something the couple had been planning since their engagement.
Standifer told E! News that the couple invited Bookout, who did attend, and the day was all about the boys and all of them becoming a family.
So, what can fans expect from the upcoming special? Radar Online reports that Bookout and Edwards fought briefly, but the two are now on better ground.
As for Ryan Edwards’ drug issues, he did check himself into rehab after last season of Teen Mom OG, but when Bookout and Standifer went face-to-face during the reunion things did not go well. OK! Magazine says that Standifer claimed Bookout’s name is a trigger for her husband’s frustrations, and as soon as he hears it he goes crazy.
Bookout says that her ex and his wife did not keep her in the loop when it came to his rehab, and she had no idea if he was in a 30-day program or doing something more, like a halfway house. She says she thinks he needs more than 30 days to get better.
Meanwhile, according to People Magazine, Standifer told an MTV producer that her husband was spending $10,000 a week on drugs, and was using as much as three times a day.
During last season’s finale, viewers witnessed a scene where Edwards appeared to be driving under the influence, while Standifer rode in the passenger seat. She had to repeatedly tap him to keep him awake, and at one point took control of the steering wheel to keep them from running off the road.
Bookout says that Edwards has to do what is necessary to stay sober, and if he doesn’t they are done because she will not put her child’s life at risk.
