We all know there is very little reality in reality television, and fans of the hit MTV show Teen Mom OG are proving it with new accusations that Maci Bookout is faking her storyline this season. Could producers be orchestrating her custody battle with Ryan Edwards to create more drama?
MTV led viewers to believe that Edwards went weeks without seeing his son, Bentley, after a Father’s Day blowout between him and Bookout. If you watch the show, you know that Edwards has struggled with heroin addiction and went to rehab at the end of last season after marrying Mackenzie Standifer in May.
When he returned from treatment, the show has made it appear that the co-parenting relationship between Edwards and Bookout is suffering and they are locked in a custody battle that is tearing the two families apart.
However, some eagle-eyed fans have noticed posts on Instagram that tell a very different story. Those who have studied the situation have realized that Bentley has been able to spend a lot of time with his dad and grandparents since July, based on pictures with dates posted on social media.
One fan on Reddit compiled the different photos from various Instagram accounts and called Bookout’s storyline “complete BS,” because Bentley appears in the photos with his grandparents during the summer.
The show had led viewers to believe that he had no contact with his dad or grandparents between Father’s Day and sometime in October.
Every reality show does manipulate events to craft interesting storylines, but this year, it seems Teen Mom OG producers are getting a bit sloppy.
Even though some storylines may be manipulated or exaggerated, there is one that is completely real for Bookout.
She revealed in a recent episode that she suffered a miscarriage, and when talking to her husband, Taylor McKinney, about the painful experience, she wasn’t sure if she wanted to get pregnant again.
Bookout says she would rather adopt and would like to find a child in the four to six age range within the next year or two.
She did tell her husband, though, that if he seriously wanted to have another baby, she would do it. But, she still wants to adopt, too. Teen Mom OG airs Monday nights on MTV.
