It's no secret that Kailyn Lowry had a rough childhood. After getting pregnant as a teenager, Lowry's mom abandoned her, and she sought shelter with Jo Rivera's family.

The Teen Mom star later characterized her mom as being an alcoholic and revealed that they rarely speak to each other. Lowry has been less open about her dad — and there is a good reason for it.

Lowry recently shared on Twitter that she has not seen her father in over a decade. The reality star's first and last visit with her dad was back in 2009 when he visited for Thanksgiving.

"The week of Thanksgiving 2009 was when I met my dad for the first time," she shared. "And even though we haven’t met again. That was an important time in my life."

Lowry's revelation about her father is not surprising for those who have watched her on Teen Mom over the years. Along with rarely mentioning her parents on the show, Lowry opened up about her childhood in her new memoir, A Letter of Love .

According to The Hollywood Gossip , Lowry explained how her parents were never home when she was growing up. Her upbringing did not teach her how to be a good mom, so she made it a point to love her boys to the best of her ability.

When she is not loving on her children, Lowry is busy working on various business ventures. The Teen Mom star has built an empire in the media world that is currently worth millions of dollars. She may not have had a father or mother to look up to, but she certainly turned out all right.

In addition to tweeting about her father, Lowry recently congratulated her ex-husband, Javi Marroquin, on his new baby with Lauren Comeau. The reality star took to Twitter to offer her congrats to Marroquin and his girlfriend, who just had their first baby together.

Javi Marroquin and Kailyn Lowry were married for several years and share one son together, Lincoln.
