Tarek and Christina El Moussa, despite their separation, have continued filming their HGTV hit, Flip or Flop, in spite of what most people would expect from them. After their marriage came to an end, Tarek and Christina spoke with the Today Show on the 14th of December, Friday, where they discussed the challenges that their divorce brought, as well as their decision to move forward.
Natalie Morales, the host of the show, asked, “Why did you guys decide it was worth continuing the show?” The 37-year-old reality star said there was a lot of “ups and downs” and they’ve been doing it for such a long time; it’s simply what they do.
According to the star, it just wasn’t worth it to throw everything out the window simply because they split up. Moreover, there is a cast and crew that works on the show, and they love working with the network; there was just no way they’d give it up so easily.
Christina went on to say, “most importantly,” she and Tarek share two kids together and it’s crucial they get along for them. Following their divorce in January, Christina added it was a lot “easier now” to have such a stressful situation eliminated from their to-do list.
In December 2016, Tarek and Christina told reporters from Us Weekly they were officially calling it all off after seven years of togetherness. It was arguably one of the more surprising break-ups that year.
Christina filed for divorce from Tarek in August 2017, stating “irreconcilable differences” as the cause, and also asked for joint legal and physical custody of their young children, Brayden, and Taylor, who are 3 and 8 respectively.
Regarding their parenting situation, when speaking with Us Weekly in June, the star said it was important to make sure everyone is on the “same page” when dealing with children.
Following her split with Tarek, Christina began dating Ant Anstead in October 2017 and has said they’ve begun having a great life. “This is by far the happiest I’ve been in a while.”
