T.I. made sure to send a congratulatory message to fellow rapper 2 Chainz for his wedding, but he ended up being slammed for the hypocrisy. As fans may remember, Tip previously ‘condemned’ marriage, so the irony was not lost on some followers.
The man decided to post a pic of 2 Chainz and his lovely wife Kesha Ward that he captioned: ‘Congrats to my Patna @2chainz and His Beautiful wife on the union. This beautiful family’s just as Royal as any Royal Wedding you stop your life to pay attention to. Salute King on finding your Queen and solidifying your Kingdom.’
It sounds great, right? Well, a fan was not having it when they commented: ‘Didn’t you condemn marriage a while ago?’
T.I. was quick to deny that was the case, writing: ‘Not at all. Just raised points to openly discuss, study and consider as we evolve as a civilization. But enjoy your blissful stagnation.’
But another user jumped in: ‘Yeah he did, but we are human and make mistakes… But let him tell it that it never happened… Men will go to the grave with their lies and excuses…’
Once again, Tip defended himself, writing: ‘Except… no, I didn’t.’
Back in June, the rapper posted a quote that explained why men don’t get married.
‘What exactly does marriage offer men today? ‘Men know there’s a good chance they’ll lose their friends, their respect, their space, their sex life, their money and — if it all goes wrong– their family.’
In the caption T.I. added to the argument: ‘Just found some info out there from @nay6ah60d_neal I thought I’d share… and mind you, I DIDN’T WRITE THIS, A WOMAN DID… but I do agree to a degree. I’ve heard and seen this a million times over. Note to women: Happiness needs no validation… The Ego does. Most women out there just wanna be married to impress they friends and family (side pieces) and to fit into society’s standards. THAT’S NOT LOVE!!! That is how you end up stuck with someone that YOU THOUGHT YOU WANTED!!!! No matter what… Whatever you do… Do what you do to make YOU HAPPY!!!’
It is safe to say he sparked a lot of controversy at the time and it looks like the post is still haunting him today.
